SSC CHSL 2026 Notification: 2536 LDC/JSA, DEO & DEO Grade A Posts – Tier-I Exam from 30 November

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released the official notification for the Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination 2026 (SSC CHSL 2026) on 7 September 2026. This recruitment will fill 2,536 (tentative) Group C posts — Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO), and Data Entry Operator Grade 'A' — across various Ministries, Departments, and Offices of the Government of India. Online applications were accepted from 7 September to 7 October 2026 at ssc.gov.in. SSC has since announced that the Tier-I Computer Based Examination will be held from 30 November to 31 December 2026.

What to Do Next (If You Have Applied)

1. Check your form: use the correction window (14 – 16 October 2026) to fix genuine errors in your application. Corrections are possible only inside this window.
2. Save your records: keep a copy of your final application and fee receipt (if fee was applicable) for future reference.
3. Watch for the city intimation slip and admit card on ssc.gov.in ahead of your Tier-I exam.
4. Prepare for Tier-I in the 30 November – 31 December 2026 window.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Passed Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
• For Data Entry Operator posts in select ministries (e.g., Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution), passing 12th standard in the Science stream with Mathematics is compulsory.
• Arts/Commerce stream candidates can apply for LDC/JSA and most DEO/DEO Grade 'A' posts, except a few department-specific DEO posts that require Science with Maths.

Age Limit

• 18 to 27 years, as on 1 August 2026 (the age reckoning date fixed in the 2026 notification).
• Standard age relaxation applies: SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC candidates get 3 years, PwBD and Ex-servicemen categories get relaxation as per Government of India norms.

Nationality

Must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India, as per SSC's standard eligibility clause.

Application Fee

Fee could be paid online via debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI, or through SBI Challan/SBI Bank Branch. Fee payment closed on 8 October 2026.

Selection Process

Tier-I (Computer Based Examination)

• Scheduled between 30 November and 31 December 2026 in multiple shifts.
• 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions across 4 sections, totalling 200 marks.
• Negative marking of 0.5 marks for each wrong answer.
• Tier-I is a qualifying/screening stage; the final merit for most posts is based on Tier-II marks.

Tier-II (Computer Based Examination)

• Date to be notified by SSC.
• Session I: Objective sections worth 360 marks, plus a Computer Knowledge Test worth 45 marks (qualifying in nature).
• Session II: Skill Test (for DEO posts) or Typing Test (for LDC/JSA posts), conducted on the same day — qualifying in nature.

Document Verification

Candidates shortlisted based on Tier-II performance undergo document verification by the concerned user department before final appointment.

How the Online Application Worked (Window Now Closed)

1. Visit the official SSC website: ssc.gov.in
2. Register with basic details (name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID) to generate a registration ID.
3. Log in and complete the application form with educational, personal, and category details.
4. Upload a recent photograph and signature as per the specified format and size.
5. Choose exam centre preferences (up to three centres, in order of priority, within the same region).
6. Pay the applicable application fee online (or via SBI Challan) before 8 October 2026.
7. Review the form carefully and submit — use the correction window (14–16 October 2026) for any genuine errors.
8. Download and save a copy of the final submitted application for future reference.
