Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC & DNT Students – 2025

The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, invites applications under the Centrally Sponsored Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for students belonging to OBC, EBC, and DNT categories pursuing post-matric or post-secondary education in India.

Objective:

To provide financial assistance to eligible students after Class 10 to help them complete higher education like diplomas, graduate, postgraduate, and professional courses.

Eligible Courses Covered (Grouped):

Group Course Type Annual Scholarship (₹)

  • Group 1 Degree & PG level professional courses (e.g., MBBS, BTech, MBA, PhD, CA, LLB, CPL) ₹20,000
  • Group 2 Other professional diploma/ certificate courses (e.g., BPharm, BSc Nursing, Hotel Management) ₹13,000
  • Group 3 General Graduate & Postgraduate courses (e.g., BA, BSc, MA) ₹8,000
  • Group 4 Class XI/XII, ITI, Polytechnic, vocational non-degree courses ₹5,000

Who Can Apply?

  1. Must belong to OBC/EBC/DNT category.
  2. Permanent resident of the State/UT applying from.
  3. Studying in recognized institutions (as per UGC, AICTE, NCVT, etc.).
  4. Family income should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh per annum.
  5. Maximum 2 boys per family can apply (no limit for girls).
  6. Students must not receive any other scholarship.
  7. Aadhaar-based attendance & verification required.

Freeship Card System:

Eligible students will get a Freeship Card, allowing them to take admission without paying tuition or hostel fees upfront. The institution will be reimbursed after the student receives their scholarship.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official website

  2. Click on “Students”.

  3. Make Your OTR(One Time Registration) using your details.

  4. Login with your credentials.

  5. Fill out the application form carefully.
    Upload all necessary documents.

  6. Submit the form and take a printout for future use.

  7. Hand over the printed application form and documents to your College/University Nodal Officer for verification.

  8. Scholarship amount is disbursed via DBT to the student’s bank account.

Important Notes

  • Students must maintain 75% attendance annually.

  • Must show satisfactory academic performance.

  • Renewal is allowed based on course progression.

  • One additional year allowed if the student fails once in a course (except for Group 1).

❓ FAQs

  • Ans:Only students belonging to OBC, EBC, or DNT categories, who are permanent residents of the respective State/UT, studying in recognized institutions and whose family income does not exceed ₹2.5 lakh per annum are eligible.

  • Ans:Yes, there is no limit for girls. Maximum 2 boys per family can apply, but girls are exempted from this restriction.

  • Ans:

    The scholarship is available for post-matric and post-secondary courses grouped as:

    • Group 1: MBBS, BTech, MBA, CA, LLB, PhD etc. – ₹20,000
