Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification (As on 21 August 2026)
A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India, or an equivalent qualification. Candidates must possess a valid mark-sheet/degree certificate confirming graduation on the day of registration.
Computer Literacy: Mandatory — candidates should have a Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations, or should have studied Computer/Information Technology as a subject in school/college.
Local Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the specified local language of the State/UT they apply for. Candidates who studied the specified language up to 10th standard are exempt from the Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT); others must clear it after Main exam qualification but before joining.
Age Limit (As on 1 August 2026)
Minimum 20 years, Maximum 28 years — candidates must be born not earlier than 02.08.1998 and not later than 01.08.2006 (both dates inclusive).

Nationality
A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962, or a person of Indian origin migrated from certain specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India (subject to an eligibility certificate from the Government of India for the latter categories).

Negative marking: 1/4th (0.25) mark deducted for each wrong answer, in both Prelims and Mains. Only Main Exam marks (converted out of 100) are used for final merit and provisional allotment; Prelims is used only for shortlisting.
Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT)
Conducted after qualifying the Main Exam / provisional allotment, but before joining. It is qualifying in nature — candidates who fail LLPT will not be offered appointment.
