📜 Background of the Notification

As per Government of Assam notification No. RLR 73/2020/3 dated 26-08-2021, notification No. RLR 187/2007/Part/24 dated 19-01-2019, and notification No. RLR 187/2007/39 dated 10-04-2018, applications are invited from eligible candidates for a total of 43 currently vacant Gaon Pradhan posts under (1) Tezpur, (2) Dhekiajuli, (3) Thelamara, (4) Chariduar, and (5) Naduar Revenue Circles of Sonitpur district.

✅ Minimum Eligibility Criteria

1. The applicant must be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of the village(s) under the Gaon Pradhan lot applied for.
2. As per Government of Assam notification No. RLR 187/2007/Part/24 dated 19-07-2019, the applicant must not have more than 2 (two) children. Those who already had more than 2 children before this notification was issued are exempt, but must submit an affidavit to this effect.
3. Age as on 01/01/2026 must be a minimum of 30 years and must not exceed 65 years. The applicant must have passed the Higher Secondary Leaving Certificate (H.S.L.C) examination or an equivalent examination from a board/institution recognised by the Government of Assam, and must submit a copy of the certificate.
4. The applicant must be physically fit and of sound mind.
5. The applicant must not be financially insolvent or a defaulter of any government dues.
6. Preference in appointment will be given to members of the existing Gaon Pradhan’s family, subject to the Mouzadar’s recommendation.
7. The applicant must not be a government employee.
8. The applicant must own immovable/movable property in his/her own name within the area where the Gaon Pradhan post is sought.
9. The applicant must not be a member of any political party.
10. The applicant must be willing to cooperate in the implementation of government policies and programmes, and during natural calamities.
11. The applicant must be a person of high repute, capability, and respectable standing in society.
12. The applicant must not have any pending court cases or litigation in his/her name.

📄 Documents Required with the Application

• Duly filled application form mentioning the applicant’s name and father’s/husband’s name
• Proof of permanent residence / certificate of social work experience
• 3 (three) copies of recent passport-size photographs
• For applicants from the existing Gaon Pradhan’s family, a certificate of the Mouzadar’s opinion
• Up-to-date debt-free (Bakijai) certificate
• Affidavit stating the applicant does not have more than 2 children
• Copy of H.S.L.C or equivalent qualifying certificate

📝 How to Apply

Eligible and interested candidates should submit their application, along with the required documents mentioned above, to the Registrar Kanungo Section, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur, either in person or by post, on or before 15th September 2026, by 5:00 PM. Candidates must ensure they are permanent residents of the village/Gaon Lot for which they are applying.
