Registration on the Official Portal

Candidates seeking admission to ITEP 2026 in Assam were required to register on the official ITEP-2026 Admission Portal at:

https://assamadmitep.samarth.ac.in/index.php

For reference: Registration required a valid and active email address and mobile number that matched the details used for NCET registration, since the portal auto-fetched NCET scores using those credentials. The original registration window closed on 16 July 2026; the same portal is now also being used to conduct the Additional Spot Admission Round from 12–14 August 2026 for candidates yet to secure a seat.

How NCET Scores Were Auto-Fetched

Candidates' NCET examination scores were automatically retrieved by the Admission Portal upon entry of the NCET Registration Number, followed by OTP-based validation. Candidates were not required to manually enter or upload their scores.

  • NCET Registration Number entered on the portal.
  • OTP-based validation completed using the registered mobile number.
  • NCET score auto-fetched from NTA records.
  • Responsibility for entering the correct NCET Registration Number rested with the candidate.

Admission as per Institutional Policy

Admissions to ITEP-2026 at all Participating Institutions in Assam were carried out in accordance with the respective University and Institutional admission policies, as approved by the Competent Authority and notified on the official websites of the concerned Institutions and on the Admission Portal. The same institutional policies will govern seat-filling under the Additional Spot Admission Round (12–14 August 2026) — candidates should check directly with their preferred college for institution-specific requirements.

What is ITEP (Integrated Teacher Education Programme)?

The Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) is a 4-year dual-degree undergraduate programme introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which combines a Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.Sc./B.Com.) with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in a single integrated course. It replaces the earlier 3-year Graduation + 2-year B.Ed. route, allowing students to become professionally qualified school teachers in 4 years instead of 5, saving both time and cost. On successful completion, students receive a dual-major degree combining a chosen academic discipline with professional teacher training, along with grounding in pedagogy, psychology, foundational literacy and numeracy, as required under NEP 2020.

  • B.A. B.Ed. (Arts stream)
  • B.Sc. B.Ed. (Science stream)
  • B.Com. B.Ed. (Commerce stream)

About NCET (National Common Entrance Test)

Admission to ITEP is done through the National Common Entrance Test (NCET), a national-level entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Qualifying in NCET was mandatory for seeking admission to the 4-Year ITEP programme in participating Central/State Universities, IITs, NITs, RIEs and Government Colleges across India, including those in Assam.

ITEP Participating Colleges in Assam

Assam has one of the highest numbers of NCET/ITEP participating colleges in the country, with a large share of government and provincialized institutions offering B.A. B.Ed. and B.Sc. B.Ed. integrated programmes. Notably, more institutions joined the fold for the 2026-27 session — for example, B. Borooah College (Autonomous), Guwahati, launched ITEP for the first time this session in partnership with Government Banikanta College of Teacher Education, offering B.A. B.Ed. and B.Sc. B.Ed. dual degrees.

With the Additional Spot Admission Round open from 12–14 August 2026, candidates who did not secure a seat through the earlier merit lists or the first spot round get one more opportunity via the SAMARTH Portal. Beyond 14 August, any further vacancy-filling is expected to be handled entirely at the institution's discretion.

How the ITEP 2026 Admission Process Worked in Assam

  1. Candidates registered on the official ITEP-2026 Admission Portal: assamadmitep.samarth.ac.in.
  2. Registration used an active email address and mobile number — the same ones used during NCET registration.
  3. Candidates logged in and entered their NCET Registration Number.
  4. OTP-based validation auto-fetched the NCET score.
  5. Candidates selected their preferred participating institution(s) and programme (B.A. B.Ed./B.Sc. B.Ed./B.Com. B.Ed.) within the Registration and Programme Selection window (10–16 July 2026).
  6. Allotment was checked against the First Merit List (20–21 July).
  7. Those allotted a seat completed admission formalities at the concerned institution as per its admission policy.
  8. Those not allotted moved through the Second and Third Merit Lists, and the first Spot Admission round (29–30 July 2026).
  9. Candidates still without a seat can now apply in the Additional Spot Admission Round (12–14 August 2026) through the same SAMARTH Portal, for fresh admissions only.

What Candidates Should Do Now

  • If you do not yet have a seat: apply through the Additional Spot Admission Round on the SAMARTH Portal between 12th and 14th August 2026.
  • If you already hold an allotted seat: this round does not apply to you, and you cannot withdraw your existing admission to participate in it — complete pending document verification and fee payment with your institution instead.
  • Keep your admission receipt, allotment confirmation and NCET scorecard safe for future reference and verification.
  • Watch your institution's own website/notice board for class commencement dates for the 2026-27 session.
  • For grievances related to the admission process, use the contact details published on your institution's official notice (most colleges list a dedicated admission helpdesk number/email).
