Out of the total vacancies, 12 posts are earmarked for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) on a horizontal basis — 2 Visually Impaired (VI), 2 Hearing Impaired (HI), 5 Orthopedically Challenged (OC), and 3 Intellectual Disability (ID) — placed within their respective SC/ST/OBC/EWS/UR category.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality/Citizenship

Applicant must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from certain specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India (subject to a Government of India eligibility certificate for the latter categories).

Age & Educational Qualification

The cut-off date for age and educational qualification eligibility is 1 August 2026 — candidates must have been born not earlier than 2 August 1996 and not later than 1 August 2006.

Local Language Proficiency

Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the local language of the state applied for (Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, or Gujarati as applicable). Candidates who have not studied the specified local language as a subject in Class 10 or Class 12 will be required to appear for and qualify a Language Proficiency Test (LPT) before the Personal Interview — failing the LPT disqualifies a candidate from further selection.

One advance increment is payable for each prior completed year of service as an Officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank (max. 2 increments), provided the candidate’s job profile matches that of a Scale-I Generalist Officer of IOB. Candidates from subsidiaries of Scheduled Commercial Banks are eligible for only 1 increment. Prior experience does not count towards service seniority.

Selection Process

Selection consists of an Online Examination, followed by a Language Proficiency Test (LPT, where applicable), and a Personal Interview.

The exam is conducted in English and Hindi (except English Knowledge, which is English only). There is a penalty of ¼ mark for each wrong answer, with no penalty for unattempted questions. There are no sectional cut-offs, but the minimum qualifying aggregate is 30% for reserved candidates and 35% for unreserved candidates.

Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

Required only for candidates shortlisted for interview who have not studied the state’s specified local language in Class 10 or 12. Failing the LPT makes a candidate ineligible for the Personal Interview and further selection.

Personal Interview

Carries 100 marks. Minimum qualifying marks: 45% for reserved candidates, 50% for unreserved candidates.

Final Selection

The Online Examination and Personal Interview are combined in a weightage ratio of 80:20. The minimum aggregate score required is 30% for reserved categories and 35% for unreserved category. Final selection is based on the merit list prepared state-wise and category-wise.
