The Directorate of Historical and Antiquarian Studies, Assam has invited eligible candidates for a walk-in interview for purely temporary positions under the Assam Manuscripts Mission. The engagement period is for 2 months on a fixed remuneration basis. The interview will be held on 21st November 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Directorate office, Panbazar, Guwahati.

Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Supervisor: Bachelor’s in History/Archaeology/Anthropology/Sanskrit/Assamese/Geography/Museology with 3 years of experience in heritage or cultural documentation. (Master’s preferred)
  • Documentation & Conservation Expert: Master’s in History/Sanskrit/Archaeology/Museology/Library Science/Art History/Chemistry with 3 years’ experience in manuscript documentation or archival work. Must read Assamese/Sanskrit/Tai-Ahom.
  • Field Investigator: Bachelor’s in History/Sanskrit/Assamese/Anthropology/Archaeology/Folklore with prior experience in cultural/community-based field research.
  • Photographer: Bachelor’s or Diploma in Photography/Videography/Media Production with 2 years’ experience handling DSLR, audio gear, and post-production software (Premiere Pro, Lightroom, etc.).
  • Assistant Conservator / Preservator: Master’s/Diploma in Conservation/Museology/Chemistry/Heritage Studies with 1–3 years’ practical experience in manuscript or artwork preservation.

Terms & Conditions

  • Age between 21–60 years as on 01.01.2025.
  • No TA/DA or accommodation will be provided for attending the interview.
  • Engagement is purely contractual and temporary (2 months only).
  • No claim for future absorption or regularization will be entertained.
  • Candidates must bring CV, original documents, and 3 passport-size photographs.
  • The Directorate reserves the right to cancel or postpone the interview without notice.
  • Shortlisted names will be displayed on the department’s notice board and website.
