SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026: Overview

The State Bank of India (SBI), through its Central Recruitment & Promotion Department (CRPD), has released the SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026 notification on 7 August 2026, inviting online applications for 1,538 Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) posts under Advertisement No. CRPD/CR/SPLDRIVE/2026-27/16. This is a Special Recruitment Drive aimed exclusively at filling backlog vacancies reserved for SC, ST, and OBC candidates across various SBI branches. The online application and fee payment window is open from 7 August 2026 to 27 August 2026. A separate notification covering regular (non-backlog) SBI Clerk vacancies for 2026–27 is expected to be released soon, with early estimates pointing to several thousand additional posts.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government. Final-year candidates can apply provisionally, subject to producing proof of passing on or before the date specified in the official notification.

Age Limit

Candidates should generally be between 20 and 28 years of age as on the cut-off date specified in the notification. Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen candidates as per Government of India rules.

Nationality

Applicants must be Indian citizens.

Application Fee

• The fee must be paid online only, using Debit Card, Credit Card, or Internet Banking, at the time of submitting the application.
• The application fee/intimation charge is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted or reserved for any other recruitment, once paid.
• Since this is a Special Recruitment Drive for SC/ST/OBC backlog vacancies only, no fee category applies for General/EWS candidates under this particular notification.

Selection Process

The selection of candidates for the SBI Clerk (Junior Associate) post is based on the following stages, with no interview round:

• Preliminary Examination – Objective type, covering English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability
• Main Examination – Objective type, covering General/Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude
• Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) – To assess proficiency in the local language of the state applied for
