Women Reservation: Within each category, 30% posts in UB and 10% posts in AB are reserved for women candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality & Residence

  • Applicant must be a citizen of India and a permanent resident of Assam.
  • Applicant should be registered with a local Employment Exchange in Assam.
  • Applicant must be able to speak Assamese or any other State language fluently.

2. Age Limit (as on 01-01-2026)

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 25 years (born not before 01-01-2001 and not later than 01-01-2008)

Age Relaxation (beyond 25 years):

  • SC / ST (P) / ST (H): +5 years
  • OBC / MOBC: +3 years
  • Registered Home Guards / VDP / Civil Defence Volunteers (3+ years service): +3 years

There is no chest measurement for female candidates.

Candidates must be in good mental and physical health, free from serious diseases or deformities. Colour blindness, squint eye, knock-knee, flat foot etc. are not acceptable. Distance vision should be 6/6 in one eye and at least 6/9 in the other without correction.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

PET carries 40 marks for all UB candidates and AB female, and 60 marks for AB male. It mainly consists of running (race) and long jump; AB male candidates also have Chin-Up test. Detailed marking is as per the official notification.

For Male Candidates (UB & AB)

  • Race: 3200 metres run (marks according to time taken; disqualified if more than 14 minutes).
  • Long Jump: Minimum qualifying distance 335 cm (3 chances; marks increase with distance).
  • Chin-Ups (Only AB Male): Minimum 4 chin-ups required. More chin-ups = more marks.

For Female Candidates (UB & AB)

  • Race: 1600 metres run (disqualified if more than 8 minutes).
  • Long Jump: Minimum qualifying distance 244 cm (3 chances; marks increase with distance).

PET will be conducted under CCTV surveillance and RFID timing chips will be used for race. Candidates get rejection slip immediately if they fail any event.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern

Written Test Pattern

  • Objective type written exam with 100 multiple choice questions.
  • Total Marks: 50 marks (each correct answer = 0.5 mark).
  • Negative Marking: No negative marking.
  • Question level: Class IX–X standard.
  • Subjects:
    • Elementary Arithmetic
    • General English
    • Logical Reasoning / Mental Ability
    • Assam History, Geography, Polity, Economy
    • General Awareness & Current Affairs
  • Question paper will be in Assamese / Bodo / Bengali / English.

Weightage & Final Merit

  • Constable (UB): PET – 40 marks, Written Test – 50 marks, Oral/Viva – 5 marks, Academic (Higher Secondary %) – 5 marks Total = 100 marks
  • Constable (AB) Male: PET – 60, Written – 50, Viva – 5 (Total = 115)
  • Constable (AB) Female: PET – 40, Written – 50, Viva – 5 (Total = 95)
  • In case of tie in final marks, older candidate gets preference; if age same, taller candidate is placed higher.

Documents Required for Online Application

  • Recent passport size photograph (max 450 KB; JPEG/JPG/PNG).
  • Scanned signature in black/blue ink on white paper (max 100 KB; JPEG/JPG/PNG).
  • HSLC Admit Card / Certificate (proof of date of birth).
  • Pass Certificate and Marksheet of HSLC/Class 10 and HS/Class 12 (as applicable).
  • Employment Exchange Registration Card of Assam.
  • Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/MOBC) from competent authority of Assam (other state certificates not accepted).

Extra Documents for Special Quota / Age Relaxation

  • Home Guard training & experience certificate (1 year for quota, 3 years for age relaxation).
  • Registered VDP member certificate with required experience.
  • Civil Defence Volunteer certificate with required experience.
  • Appointment certificate as SPO (for quota and relaxation).
  • FMMO certificate issued by Special Branch, Assam Police.
  • Sports certificate (minimum district level medal) / NCC certificates.

All certificates must be issued on or before the last date of online application. Original documents will be verified during PET & PST; no new documents will be accepted later.

How to Apply Online — Step-by-Step

  1. Visit the official website: https://slprbassam.in.
  2. Register using your valid mobile number and enter your name, father’s & mother’s name exactly as in HSLC certificate.
  3. Provide Employment Exchange number, highest qualification, permanent district, gender, caste/category, date of birth, Aadhaar number.
  4. After registration, an Application ID will be generated — keep it carefully.
  5. Login using Application ID or registered mobile number & date of birth.
  6. Select this advertisement, choose the post (UB / AB / both), fill personal & educational details, and set your post preferences.
  7. Upload photo, signature and all required documents in correct format.
  8. Submit the application form and download the acknowledgement slip.
  9. If needed, use the edit option within 5 days after the last date (only once, subject to approval by SLPRB).

Use a valid mobile number and keep it active till the recruitment process is over. Multiple registrations with different numbers will lead to cancellation of candidature.

Important Instructions & General Rules

  • Incomplete, wrong or fake information in the application will lead to rejection at any stage.
  • Candidates must appear for all stages of recruitment. Absence at any stage = cancellation.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in PET, PST, Written Test or Viva-Voce.
  • Number of vacancies may increase or decrease due to administrative reasons.
  • Final appointment is subject to satisfactory police verification and final medical examination.
  • Selected candidates must undergo basic police training; those failing in training can be discharged.
