Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

  • Matriculation / Class 10 or equivalent from a recognized Board.
  • Possession of domicile certificate of the state for which the candidate is applying.

2. Age Limit (as on 14 December 2025)

Tier-I: Online Objective Test

Minimum qualifying marks in Tier-I: UR – 30, EWS – 30, OBC – 28, SC/ST – 25. Actual cut-off may go higher depending on vacancies and performance of candidates.

Tier-II: Descriptive Test (Qualifying)

  • Descriptive paper on English Language & Comprehension.
  • Paragraph writing (150 words), vocabulary, grammar, usage etc.
  • Marks: 50    Duration: 1 hour
  • Qualifying Marks: 20 out of 50 (only qualifying, not added in final merit).

Final Selection

  • Candidates are shortlisted for Tier-II at about 10 times the number of vacancies based on Tier-I performance (after normalization).
  • Final merit list is prepared based on Tier-I marks only, subject to qualifying Tier-II.
  • Selection is further subject to document verification, character & antecedent verification and medical examination.

What is the salary of IB MTS (General)?

The pay scale is Level-1 (₹18,000 – 56,900) in the pay matrix plus admissible Central Government allowances and Special Security Allowance @ 20% of basic pay.

Is Tier-II marks included in the final merit?

No. Tier-II is only a qualifying exam (minimum 20/50). Final merit is prepared on the basis of Tier-I marks only, subject to qualifying Tier-II and other conditions.

Can I apply for more than one state/SIB?

No. You can opt for only one SIB. Once chosen in the application, it cannot be changed later. Your candidature will be considered against vacancies of that opted SIB only.

Is domicile certificate mandatory?

Yes. You must possess a valid domicile certificate of the state against which you are applying on the closing date of online application.

Is there All India posting?

Yes. The post carries All India Service Liability (AISL). Candidates must be willing to serve anywhere in India.

How will PwBD candidates get scribe and extra time?

Eligible PwBD candidates can use their own scribe as per rules and will get 20 minutes extra per hour of examination, subject to submission of prescribed certificates and undertaking at the time of exam.
